Ccaps calls for support to the GALA Standards Initiative
Pour creativity into willful discipline and you have the heady mixture of excellence that wows the world. Endeavoring to match such high standards, language service provider Ccaps Translation and Localization is supporting the GALA Standards Initiative.
The GALA Standards Initiative (GSI) promotes the effective use of standards for international and multilingual content, builds awareness of best practices for their implementation, and helps the localization community make open standards work. The Standards Initiative is a non-profit effort organized by the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA).
Ccaps calls for support to the initiative. Great ideas are conceived in isolation but implemented with a passionate team. Join the team by supporting the Initiative. GSI is a wide-angle look at open sourcing, common business practices, and the establishment of best practices to support the entire language service industry.
Support to the GSI has short- and long-term benefits, including:
- Recognition and acknowledgement as a leader in the language service industry
- Marketing tools promoting your support of standards and interoperability
- The opportunity to influence and shape projects that will impact the language service industry in the future
- Cost-savings leading to tremendous growth and profitability.
Ccaps is joined by several other industry leaders in supporting this Initiative, coordinated by Arle Lommel, who has been active in the localization industry for over a decade. Arle has been involved with standards development for much of this time, having worked formerly with LISA, the Localization Industry Standards Association, where he headed standards activities.
He is currently one of the project leads on the Language Interoperability Portfolio (Linport) project, a joint effort of GALA, the European Commission Directorate General – Translation, and the Brigham Young University Translation Research Group, to develop a standard format for sending authoring, translation and publication projects with standardized metadata.
“Since 2004 Ccaps has been a proud member of GALA, contributing as much as we can to the success of the association,” says Managing Director, Fabiano Cid. “When we heard about the GALA Standards Initiative, we felt that we should not ignore such a great enterprise and decided to become a sponsor. Being at the forefront of such important venture confirms our commitment to the development, improvement and standardization of translation and localization processes, while the ultimate goal of our participation is to benefit both the community and the entire Ccaps supply chain, from external vendors to internal collaborators, and, above all, our clients.”
Getting involved with GSI is possible by making donations, joining their mailing list and supporting other activities through financial contributions, or ideas and more. Even non-members are welcome to contribute, whether they are translators, language service providers or buyers of language services.
A key language service provider specializing in Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish, Ccaps is a frontrunner in the industry with its highly qualified staff and use of current technology. Ccaps’s support to the GSI speaks for itself. Join the winners… Now!
